From Law Graduate to TV Star
Nearly 20 years ago, I started a journey that I never imagined would shape my identity and define my career. Growing up, I was enamored by Madhuri Dixit, her grace in dance, and her brilliance in acting. I adored performing, whether it was dancing or delivering lines. However, acting was never a planned career path for me—it was more of a hobby that I cherished deeply.
As a child, when Doordarshan was the only source of entertainment, I was immersed in the masterpieces of Indian cinema. I grew up watching the works of legends like Shyam Benegal and Guru Dutt, their films shaping my early understanding of storytelling. TV shows like Hum Log, Buniyaad, Malgudi Days, Nukkad, and Bharat Ek Khoj were more than just shows; they were vivid childhood memories. I never missed regional films with subtitles, embracing the diversity of Indian culture through cinema. Those were the golden years, where every program felt like a new window to the world.
Everything changed when I participated in an acting event during my college days. The applause, the smiles, and the exhilaration of being on stage ignited something within me. Yet, even then, I remained grounded, focusing on completing my LLB degree. Life, however, had other plans.
Soon after I graduated, I received an unexpected call—a chance to audition for a TV serial titled Saat Phere. Nervously excited, I gave it my best shot. To my amazement, I got selected! That moment marked the beginning of my acting career.
Acting became my full-time passion, but it was a journey fraught with challenges. My father, like many parents, was apprehensive about my choice. He worried about the uncertainties and the pressures of the entertainment industry. I reassured him that this field could be both safe and fulfilling for me. Convincing my family wasn’t easy, but I never rebelled. Instead, I balanced my studies and my aspirations, proving my commitment to both.
Despite my persistence, it wasn’t until my hoardings went up in public spaces that my family began to believe in my dreams. Seeing my face on billboards, my father finally felt proud of me. That pride became a cornerstone of my motivation, reminding me of why I worked so hard.
Over the years, my journey has been peppered with memorable achievements. Earning my LLB degree remains one of my proudest accomplishments. It not only grounded me but also showcased my dedication to education alongside my artistic pursuits.
Before fully diving into acting, I spent time at Akashvani, delivering news. It was a humbling and enriching experience, one that taught me discipline and honed my voice.
Of course, Saat Phere stands out as a career-defining project. Playing a significant role in a show that resonated with so many people brought me recognition and a deep sense of fulfillment.
Now, after two decades in the industry, I’m ready to explore new horizons. The world of OTT platforms excites me, offering a range of characters and stories waiting to be told. I believe these platforms will allow me to evolve further as an actor and connect with audiences in new and meaningful ways. As I step into this new phase of my career, I carry with me the lessons, achievements, and the unwavering support of my family, who now stand by me with pride.
